Roofers are often not detail oriented. Details very much matter especially in the case of flashing. If flashing does not create a watertight seal then many problems can follow. Flashing leaks may often go undetected to the untrained eye. If there is a leak in your flashing, water may sit in the structure of your roof until it is too late and you notice a giant water spot on your ceiling. By this point, the leak is advanced. At this point, you probably have rotted decking in the area. Our job is to prevent this from ever happening. With our trained expertise we can perform preventative maintenance on the issue before this ever happens.
What do I look for?
You may have a flashing leak if: you see a leak on your ceiling sheetrock on the interior of your home, you see a hue of dampness on the surface of your brick in your entryway (if you have that style home), mildew growing on the surface of stone, or you see counter flashing not properly covering the underlying metal.
What can happen if it’s not fixed?
If left in disrepair- roof joists and roof decking will rot causing a weak roof. You’d want to be especially careful walking on this so as to not fall through your roof! Your sheetrock could fall off of the ceiling making a horrible mess in your den. Electrical circuits could short out due to water leaking on them- which is a fire hazard.
What is the solution?
None of this will occur if you hire us to do your flashing repair. Unlike roofers- we are very detail oriented and will ensure no pesky water gets into the structure of your home via flashing leaks.
